Engines of Citroen C4
Here we are presenting the 3 main engines of Citroen C4.
There is one 1.6L gasoline engine, and two 1.6 and 2.0L diesel engines.
These engines are common to Peugeot 307 too. The diesel ones can be found in many other cars of Ford group (Ford, Volvo, Mazda,..).
Let's note that the 1.6L diesel engine outputs the same power as the 1.6L gasoline engine (without turbo), that is great for a diesel engine (or quite sad for the gasoline non-turbocharged one).
Nomenclature
Engines of PSA Peugeot Citroën group have all the same code names:
[Type] [Family] {Displacement in dl - 1 liter} |Version| (Nb valves)
For example the diesel engine DW10 BTED4:
- D: Diesel Engine (E for gasoline)
- W: family of engine
- 10: 2.0L engine
- B: Evolution B of the engine
- TED4: 4 valves per cylinder

DIESEL ENGINE DV6 TED4 - 1.6L 16v
Performance of diesel engine DV6TED4.

This engine is developped by PSA Peugeot Citroen and Ford Motor Company, and can be found in many car models of both automotive group, from Ford Focus to PEugeot 407 or Mazda 3.
DV6 is an engine developped according to downsizing technology.
The displacement is reduced, and the specific power are increased to improve performance and reduce fuel consumption and pollution.
The power of this engine is very high for such a small displacement engine. |

DIESEL ENGINE DW10 BTED4 - 2.0L 16v
Performance of engine DW10 BTED4.

The first evolution of this engine was the famous 2.0 HDi of Peugeot 206 and 307, in two different power: 90 and 110 hp.
These power are now covered by the DV6 engine. DW10B outputs now 138 hp (136 hp for Peugeot).
